Medical Info: Morphing repairs any damage done to him, though there was that one time he died. Outside of that he's a healthy kid; athletic in that "running away from the bad guys now" sort of way.

Physical traits: Your average hispanic american teenaged boy, with long girly eyelashes.

What's Okay To Mention Around Him/Her: ...he was told he was fictional last time he was in camp, and he won't believe you if you mention it. Still better not to, anyways. Anything else you can think of is free game.

Abilities: Shapeshifting/morphing for 2 hour blocks of time. Since morphing is based entirely on DNA, morphing while injured heals the wounds.

Notes for the Psychics: Marco died. It's probably imprinted on his soul for those who can tell that sort of thing. He's a telepath (of sorts) when in morph, and he'd probably be recognized as 'not an animal' if caught in morph by mind/soul/energy reading types.

Can I shapeshift/bodyswap/spit at/step on/etc?: Ask, and I'll probably say yes.

Maim/Murder/Death: Again, ask~

Cooking: Marco had to take care of his dad for like... two years. I'd say he knows how to cook. Whether he wants to is something else entirely.

Random note on Marco and his morphs: None of the morphs he got while at camp last time work anymore. Playing it like Megamorphs #2 (In the Time of Dinosaurs) so while he remembers last time around he can't morph into, say, Jacen Solo anymore.

Post-CFUD, Post-Animorphs #1

When Marco had died the first time, he hadn't really noticed that he'd died. Passing out from blood loss would do that to a guy.

This time, it was kind of hard to miss. This wasn't any little knife through the heart; this was an exploding spaceship, and in the split second before his body fried, it hurt like hell.

"Monkey-man~"

He'd expected blackness. Or, you know, just ceasing to exist. That's what had happened last time. He didn't expect a little pink blur to latch onto his arm and drag his soul out of his corpse. This was new and different, this was--

"...Yachiru?"

Post-CFUD, Post-Animorphs #2

Heaven. A place full of beautiful babes, beaches, anything and everything he could ever dream of having. It was supposed to be the final reward for all the hell he had to go through as a teenager.

"Monkey-man! Horsie time!"

Funny how things never worked out the way he wanted them too. Marco sighed, turning around to face the vice-captain. It didn't really matter how the hell he managed to get stuck in seireitei, or even how he wound up on the eleventh division.

What mattered was that somehow he could still morph, even though he was dead and therefore didn't have any DNA. It was just his luck, too, that Yachiru wanted to take up the "art of killing things on horseback".

Eh, I'm not really all that happy without how this turned out. I'll probably tweak it again and again and again. Like when I actually find some of the books. They're probably in the attic, but that involves taking screws out and balancing a heavy door on my head until I can get down the ladder, so I'm going to search every inch of my room first.

There are two things you have to remember about Marco.

He's a teenaged boy, and he is not a soldier. He's a terrorist.

The way I'm playing Marco is that he realizes that after everything is said and done, he's not a warrior, or a soldier or a fighter. He's a terrorist, utilizing hit-and-run techniques in order to eliminate a more powerful foe. Of course, no one in their right minds would call the Animorphs terrorists-- they're trying to save humanity from eternal enslavement to the Yeerks, after all-- but that's what they are.

In book 9, Cassie describes Marco with "there are times when his eyes lose their skeptical expression and grow glittery and dangerous."

Despite it not technically happening yet, so far as Marco is concerned, in Megamorphs #2, Marco is all for letting the Mercora get squished if that means the Animorphs can go home. And in book 19, Marco is willing to kill a human child to kill a Yeerk.

Marco has killed. The Animorphs try to prevent human casualty, but Taxxons, Hork Bajir, even other animals of earth, have all fallen to them. In book fifteen, Marco made the command decision to flood the base, and kill "anyone without gills". Including his own mother. She survived, but at this point in time Marco doesn't know that. ((This is actually a recurring theme throughout the series.))

Marco bottles things up inside-- he hates being pitied. It was only because Rachel was about to kill her, that Marco fessed up about his mother. Marco had had no intention of ever telling anyone about that.

But all that is hidden beneath wide grins, stupid jokes, and a healthy dose of skepticism. Even to the rest of the Animorphs, Marco comes off as the laid back guy who doesn't really care about things. On several occasions, he's come out with comments that they could just "go home and watch tv", instead of doing something suicidally stupid. Not that that has ever actually stopped him from doing said stupid things.

Marco has died for this war, after all. He may not say anything about it, he may not actively consider it, but he did die in the course of battle. Obviously, he was revived, but the fact of the matter is that even through that, he continued to fight.

Of course, stupidly suicidal things aren't the only stupid things he's done. Marco morphed a gorilla in order to stop a guy from getting mugged... and got shot at. He's morphed a dog to get into a concert, a parrot and a skunk, both to help out with Cassie's crazy "save the animals" schemes.

Marco is the security guy of the Animorphs. He's the one who tries to make sure everyone knows not to act like a group, and he's the one who makes sure they don't say anything where they can be overheard. While the others are busy worrying and planning and trying to hammer out mission details, Marco is the one worrying about them. Trying to keep them safe and alive, though most of the time it's under the guise of jokes. He has a reputation to keep, after all.

The way I've been playing Marco is that he seems pretty unaffected by the majority of what happens at camp-- changing shape is, after all, pretty normal for him. Changing colors... well, that's like being half-way between morphs. Or that he's morphed into a non-glowing, non-omnipotent Ellimist. Spaceships and aliens aren't anything really new to him-- well, ones that are human and aren't Controllers are new. The thing that really gets him is when he meets people that he knows are fiction. He tries to pass it off, be laid back and unaffected, but that doesn't really work.

Bart is the only 'fictional person' Marco feels comfortable around. Jacen... doesn't count. Because Marco has never read the EU, he doesn't get that same WTF feeling from Jacen as he does Anakin. He's not likely to recognize a whole lot of the campers because they either come from a series that was put out after his time period or they're from anime and that's just not Marco's thing.

He's probably pushing it a little every time he mentions that he's "just a normal guy", especially considering his lack of reaction to most camp maladies. But he's suspicious and paranoid, and if his hand's not being forced, he tries to consider everything.

So he's considering the camp. And he's put together some crazy theories that he really hopes aren't true... but he's going to act like they are, and not let anyone know his-- and now, Tobias'-- secrets.

Will put crazy theories in this spot, once I finish writing them up.

Yay for keeping track of who Marco's talked to, and whether he knows their names or not.

I really need to do a write up telling everything Marco's done in canon, even if it's just for myself. And of his morphs. Jeez...

Marco's Relations:
Tobias (thestudyofbirds || Canon relationship.)
For the most part, Tobias' situation scares Marco. He's damn sure that if he ever got stuck in morph, no all powerful being would come along with an easy solution and "unlock" him. Sure, in camp he may go nothlit and revert a few times. But he's not sure what effects that will have outside the barrier and back home. Because of Tobias' recently ((to him, anyways)) regained ability to morph, Marco isn't really sure what to think abut his feathered teammate. It really doesn't help that Marco is pretty sure that Tobias is from some point in his own future, given the bird's dinosaur comment. As uncomfortable with him as he is, Tobias is the only other Animorph in camp. He is therefore the only person Marco fully trusts.

And Little!Marco seemed to base everything he did on whether or not Tobias would get mad at him. Except for the killing of Hollows-- he had to show up Little!Lupin somehow.

Bart Allen (im_impulse)
Marco considers Bart one of the few that he trusts. He wouldn't go so far as to tell Bart about what he does 'back home'-- he's not to sure how Bart would react to learning that he's killed in the past, regardless of the fact that they weren't human-- but he trusts Bart to keep him safe. Which is saying a lot, considering how naive Bart can be. Bart is kind of like what Jake used to be like, before Elfangor. To Marco, that's something that needs to be protected. Marco's currently trying to think up a buyable excuse as to why Little!Marco insisted that Big!Marco had powers.

Buffy Summers (classprotector)
First and foremost, Marco thinks she's hot. He also knows that she's clearly off limits, and that her boyfriend could twist him into a pretzel even in gorilla form. Again, he'd trust her with his life, but not with his secrets or the secrets of the Animorphs. He likes their easy and not-intended-to-insult-him snark.

Lupin (manofsteal)
Amusing guy, in that totally unhelpful way. Marco imagines Lupin is something like what he'll be when he's an adult. But Lupin's not a rolemodel. No, really, he's not.

Winry Rockbell (mechaholic)
Marco's first confirmed in-camp friend. Because she said so.

Anakin Skywalker (idontlikesand)
Knows the whole Marco/Ax thing, but hasn't told Marco he knows. So far, both of them have a tick in the "didn't help you, but made some comments anyways" box.

Major Armstrong (artisticmethod)
Marco doesn't know his name, but he forced him into playing water polo. Marco is positive that his sparkles are hypnotic.

Yakushi Kabuto (knowing_smile)
Marco's not sure if Kabuto counts as a friend or not. As far as Marco is concerned, Kabuto is going to be staying as sane as possible to spite him, which is good, because the alternative is Kabuto unleashing his insanity on him. Kabuto did make an attempt to teach him how to use his zanpakutou, and Little!Marco let him do "something" while he was in morph, due to some sort of lingering "Big!Me kinda trusts this guy" feeling. Kabuto's like Tobias in a sense-- Marco would fight at their back, but he doesn't really know where the guy stands personally.

Russel Tringham (fake_alchemist)
Marco apparently doesn't have the ability to keep his damn fool mouth shut around Russel. This is to be blamed on the fact that Marco jokes with Russel the same way he jokes with Jake. Marco is in the midst of an unspoken "who can come up with a crazier theory" competition with him, for some reason. Probably for the snark.

Cher (hot4shoes)
Cher is... well, Marco thinks that she's hot. This should not come as a surprise. Though he flirts with her, she's another person on his "off limits" list. Mostly because at the same time that she told him she wasn't wearing a bra, she also admitted to having a thing for Ryuuken. And then they spent awhile discussing Ryuuken, just so that Marco knew for a fact that Cher really wasn't into him. That's okay, though. Cher was going to try and set him up on a date, after all.

Madarame Ikkaku (insertbaldjoke)
Ikkaku got a promise from Little!Marco to not get himself killed. Marco still holds himself to that promise, actually. One of the two people that Marco has morphed, Marco is pretty sure that Ikkaku's mind is a negative influence on him. That doesn't stop him from viewing Ikkaku as one of his buddies, though. Ikkaku might not know any of the big dark secrets Marco keeps, but having met Kenpachi, Marco's pretty such that Ikkaku would understand, if he ever told him.

Kusajishi Yachiru(death_backpack)
Marco... is still kinda owned by Yachiru, since she purchased him at the bachelor auction and hasn't done anything about that. Aside from that, Marco sees Yachiru kinda like the little sister he doesn't have. The psychotic, battle-loving, hyper, pink haired sister he doesn't have. She's one of the few who knows about the Ikkaku-morph, actually. Any ways, Marco feels pretty protective of Yachiru, even though she could kick his ass seven thousand times before he could do anything to even remotely protect her.
